In either case, it can take a while to find the right place, so I would suggest starting to look at least two months in advance before you want to move.

Below we have compiled a list of websites where you can look for a room in a WG or an apartment. Keep in mind, most rental rooms or flats are offered without furniture.

1. WG-Gesucht (www.wg-gesucht.de): This is the most popular option for finding a room in a WG, although it also lists entire apartments for rent.
2. Immobilienscout (www.immobilienscout24.de): If you are looking for an entire apartment for rent, then Immobilienscout is the most popular choice. Most people use WG-Gesucht and Immobilienscout for finding a rental accommodation. We also list some other options below.

Other than these websites, you can also find several groups on Facebook where people post rooms and flats for rent. For example, to find groups for Berlin, you could search for 'WG Zimmer Berlin' on Facebook and join those groups.
